Chris has
always been involved in the “fabric” arts. Sewing,
quilting, knitting, embroidery, she has created
everything from simple Barbie doll sized knit shawls to
bridesmaid dresses for entire wedding parties. The style
of knitting Chris uses has been passed down for
generations from her European ancestors and is called
the "continental" style. Chris learned
the art of knitting from her
mother around the age of 8 and continues to love this
form of artistic expression.
Chris
concentrates on designing and creating unique, quality
fashion accessories such as, scarves, purses and shawls. All of the
materials used in her designs are of the highest quality
available. Chris searches the world for high quality,
unique yarns, fabrics and notions. All felted items use a wonderful classic
worsted weight 100% wool from as
the base yarn. This heirloom quality wool is mixed with
fancy fashion yarns from some of today's top yarn
manufacturers such as Ironstone, Berroco,
Crystal Palace, Trendsetter, Plymouth, Anny Blatt and more. Chris
also purchases directly from smaller manufacturers
located around the world.
All of Chris Knits items are hand made and most are one
of a kind. However, we do have a few "standard"
purse designs. The Audrey and the Red Hat Special
purses are always in stock and made exactly the same
way each time. Most of the purses Chris makes are fully lined in high quality
satin, brocade or jacquard fabric. They will have Lucite,
bamboo or hand
beaded handles, interior pockets and magnetic snap closures.
Chris sold her wonderful fiber accessories in Southern
California prior to relocating with her husband to
Arizona in 2005. This past year Chris
displayed her items at several Phoenix area holiday
boutiques including: The Cottage Boutique, the Posey
Patch Boutiques, the Briar Patch Boutiques, and the Hope’s
Treasures Boutique. The response to her designs was
fantastic and the idea to launch her web site was born.
This Spring you will
be able to see Chris and her designs at craft fairs and
boutiques all over the Valley of the Sun. Go to our
Calendar for a complete
listing of events already scheduled.
